Docs / Importing

Running an import

Choose pages, confirm the consent statement and understand how credits are used.

Imports run on the Import pages screen of the plugin, in three steps: Reference site, Choose pages and Import.

1. Find the pages

Enter the Address of the reference site or page and choose Find pages. The plugin reads the reference site’s sitemap, its public REST API and the links on its homepage. Nothing is changed on that site.

2. Choose the pages

  • Tick the pages you want. Use the filter to search by title or address.
  • Keep Show Elementor pages only on. Only pages built with Elementor can be rebuilt.
  • One import can include up to 50 pages, all from the same website.
  • With Pro, you can also tick Import the site header and footer as Elementor templates when the reference site has them.

Options

  • Page template: Elementor Full Width keeps your theme’s header and footer. Elementor Canvas has no header or footer. Theme default uses your theme’s page template.
  • Save new pages as: Drafts (the default) or Published pages.
  • Design only: placeholder texts and images instead of the reference content. See Design-only imports.

3. Confirm the statement

Before the import starts, you tick a statement. It currently reads:

I confirm that I have the right to use the material on this reference page, that I will modify the imported content and images before publishing, and that I am solely responsible for any copyright or other claims related to this import.

We store each confirmation with your account, the site, the reference URL, the date, your IP address and the version of the statement. See the privacy policy.

How credits are used

What you importCredits
Elementor page1
Template1
Site header or footer1
Posts, products and menus (full-site import, Pro)0
  • Reserved when the import starts. The plugin shows how many credits the import needs before you start.
  • Used when the plugin downloads a converted page.
  • Released automatically when a conversion fails, or when you choose Stop before a page is converted.
If a page converts and downloads but then fails to save in WordPress, the credit is not returned automatically. Open a support ticket and we will look at it.

After the import

Each page shows its status while the import runs. When it’s done, open History for links to View and Edit with Elementor. Your full import history is under Imports in the dashboard.

Warnings, such as widgets that came in as HTML or images that couldn’t be downloaded, appear next to the page. See What gets converted.

Still stuck? Open a support ticket and tell us the reference URL and what you saw.
