What gets converted
Native widgets, the HTML fallback widget, carried CSS, images and fonts.
The goal is a page that looks like the reference and that you can edit in Elementor straight away.
Structure
Sections, columns and containers become the same Elementor elements on your site. Element IDs are kept from the reference page, so its CSS still matches.
Widgets
Elementor and Elementor Pro widgets become native widgets, with their settings mapped to Elementor controls.
When a widget can’t be mapped, for example one from a third-party add-on, it comes in as an HTML widget that holds the rendered markup. The page still looks right, but that part has no Elementor controls. The plugin lists these as warnings, such as “3 widgets imported as HTML”. You can rebuild them with native widgets when you edit the page.
Carried CSS
The Elementor CSS of the reference page comes with it: the page’s own CSS, the global (kit) CSS and template CSS. The plugin stores it with the new page and prints it before Elementor’s own CSS. So anything you change in Elementor wins.
Images
The plugin downloads each image to your media library and points the page at your copy, both in the page and in the carried CSS. Alt text is kept. If an image can’t be downloaded, it stays at its original address and you get a warning. Replace it with your own.
Fonts
The plugin asks Elementor to load the fonts the page uses, so Elementor’s own font settings apply (for example, whether Google Fonts load). Fonts the reference site uploaded itself are not included. Add them yourself, for example with Elementor Pro’s Custom Fonts, and only if you have a licence for them.
Page settings
Page-level Elementor settings, such as the background, come across too. You choose the page template in the import options.
What isn’t converted
- Pages, or parts of pages, not built with Elementor, such as a theme’s own header.
- Scripts, tracking codes and custom code outside Elementor.
- The behaviour of other plugins. Their widgets come in as HTML, and anything that needs their scripts won’t work until you rebuild it.
- Anything behind a login.
